2011 National Bicycle League President's Cup
The President's Cup was an annual state verses state competition held by the NBL in December. States earning a ranking as one of the top 'teams' competing in the event were awarded money toward their state program. While we do not yet know exactly how the change to USA BMX will effect the President's Cup, we do know that this year it will be held, Thanksgiving weekend, at the ABA Grands in Tulsa, OK.
· The NBL requires participation in a minimum of two local races (single point, double point, or Warnicke race, but not including National Prerace, National, Regional, or State Qualifiers) to be eligible to race in the President's Cup. The points from the local races will NOT factor into the Virginia BMX State Championship Series.
· All riders earning a Virginia BMX Number Plate ranked 1st through 15th, in each age and proficiency will be invited to the President's Cup Competition to be held in December 2011.
· The Virginia BMX State Commissioner and the Virginia BMX Board of Directors may establish criteria to fill President's Cup Competition positions below those of the Fully Qualified State Champions. These criteria must be consistent with current NBL policies which require participation in at least two local races within the State of Virginia, participation in the State Series, and competing in the State Championship Final. (This includes "rolling the gate" as needed to receive race credit.)
· Virginia BMX Jersey presentation will be before the President's Cup Competition. All riders participating in the President's Cup must wear their Virginia BMX Jersey.
· Be sure to look for Virginia BMX announcements as the race gets closer and contact the Virginia BMX Team Manager to verify your plans to compete for Team Virginia and ensure eligibility for the rider benefits that may be made available to participants.
