'New Rider' Eligibility and Notes for New Riders

All New Riders are immediately eligible and welcome to race in the Virginia BMX State Championship Series!
·        Riders whose first NBL registration occurs during the racing season are encouraged to fully qualify for the series - if this is not feasible, the tiered award system provides opportunities to earn awards at every race.

·        Any NBL member may race in the Championship Final Event and compete for the Trophy of the Day, so be sure to put this Event on your calendar as it is the place to earn your ranking and earn maximum Awards.

·        To encourage participation in your first year of racing, we have Staff available to guide you through the Program and help chart the course for your maximum benefit - some of our best riders are new to the sport, and we want to do everything we can to make the series right for you even if you miss a few events.

·        If you have questions about this program, please see the New Rider Program Coordinator, the Virginia BMX Promotions Officer, your Local Track Representative, or any Virginia BMX Board member - or email your questions to VABMX@msn.com
2010 National Bicycle League President's Cup

The President's Cup is an annual state verses state competition held by the NBL in December.  States earning a ranking as one of the top 'teams' competing in the event are awarded money toward their state program.

·        The NBL requires participation in a minimum of two local races (single point, double point, or Warnicke race, but not including National Prerace, National, Regional, or State Qualifiers) to be eligible to race in the President's Cup.  The points from the local races will NOT factor into the Virginia BMX State Championship Series.

·        All riders earning a Virginia BMX Number Plate ranked 1st through 15th, in each age and proficiency will be invited to the President's Cup Competition to be held in December 2010.

·        The Virginia BMX State Commissioner and the Virginia BMX Board of Directors may establish criteria to fill President's Cup Competition positions below those of the Fully Qualified State Champions.  These criteria must be consistent with current NBL policies which require participation in at least two local races within the State of Virginia, participation in the State Series, and competing in the State Championship Final.  (This includes "rolling the gate" as needed to receive race credit.)

·        Virginia BMX Jersey presentation will be before the President's Cup Competition.  All riders participating in the President's Cup must wear their Virginia BMX Jersey.

·        Be sure to look for Virginia BMX announcements as the race gets closer and contact the Virginia BMX Team Manager to verify your plans to compete for Team Virginia and ensure eligibility for the rider benefits that may be made available to participants.
