General Guidelines
:> Virginia BMX Officials will enforce the NBL 2010 Official Rules of Competition. Participants at any sanctioned event, as well as those in their company, are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. Riders may be penalized, and even suspended, for failure to meet these standards.
> Per Chapter 16 A5 of the Rules of Competition: "Sandbagging will not be tolerated. If any Rookie or Novice rider is determined by the officials to have intentionally avoided getting a move up awards towards advancement to the higher proficiency, he or she will be moved to last place and awarded two move up awards for that race."
Registration Guidelines and Proficiency Upgrades
> Riders who earned a 2009 Virginia BMX Ranking and Plate may use that Ranking with the Plate awarded at any State or Local Race in Virginia until the conclusion of the 2010 Championship Final Event. The use of the 2009 Ranking and Plate remains authorized for riders advancing in age or proficiency during the 2010 Series. Riders may use any other plate recognized by the NBL for use in Local class races.
> There will be no proficiency or age 'freeze' date for the Virginia BMX Championship Series. All riders experiencing a proficiency upgrade must inform the Clerk of Course. If it is determined that a rider knowingly races in the wrong proficiency, the rider will be immediately reclassified. Points will be taken away from all races where the rider raced in the wrong proficiency.
> It is the responsibility of the rider (or the parent of a young rider) to ensure that changes in rider status and plate number are reported to the Clerk of Course and that the Moto Sheets reflect the plate number in use for the current race. Failure to do so can result in loss of points, trophy standing, and possibly race credit.
